A rangoli of powder lasts an evening; ours lasts every Diwali after. A steel thali goes back in the cupboard; ours stays out on the mandir shelf. Both are poured in resin with real gold leaf, in the colours of a festival, and both wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Resin softens near heat. Keep diyas and candles in their own metal or clay holders: a diya can stand on the thali's brass plate insert, never on the resin itself, and rangoli pieces should be kept a hand's width from any flame.
Only on the brass plate set into it, never directly on the resin, which softens with heat.
A soft damp cloth, then dry. No scrubbing pads or harsh cleaners.
